Day 1 — Arrival in Paro (alt. 2,250 m)
Welcome to Bhutan. Met at Paro International Airport by your Origovita guide. Drive to your boutique hotel in the Paro valley. Optional gentle hike up to Tsherim Temple above the hotel (about an hour up and down) or rest. Overnight in Paro.
Day 2 — Bumdra & Taktsang Helicopter Flight (Bumdra 3,800 m · Taktsang 3,100 m)
A 15-minute helicopter flight to Bumdra, the “Rock of One Hundred Thousand Foot Prints,” high above the Paro valley with panoramic Himalayan views. Time at the sacred Bumdra Monastery, then a contemplative descent to Taktsang — the Tiger’s Nest. Return to Paro for a Bhutanese hot stone bath and dinner.
Day 3 — Paro Valley & Drive to Thimphu
Morning visit to Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum (Ta Dzong). After lunch, scenic drive (1.5 h) to Thimphu, the world’s only capital without traffic lights. Evening walk to the National Memorial Chorten. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 4 — Thimphu Cultural Day
Buddha Dordenma viewpoint, Tashichho Dzong, Folk Heritage Museum, traditional weaving and paper-making workshops. Afternoon at the takin preserve and an Indigenous Medicine Hospital visit, where the principles of Bhutanese natural medicine are introduced.
Day 5 — Thimphu → Punakha (via Dochula Pass, 3,100 m)
Drive over the Dochula Pass with its 108 stupas and Himalayan panorama. Descend into the Punakha valley. Walk through rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility. Overnight in Punakha.
Day 6 — Punakha Dzong & Suspension Bridge
Visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. Cross one of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan. Afternoon hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten through terraced fields.
Day 7 — Punakha → Gangtey (Phobjikha Valley)
A scenic drive through dwarf bamboo forests into the glacial Phobjikha valley — winter home of the rare Black-necked Cranes. Visit Gangtey Monastery and the Black-necked Crane Information Centre. Quiet evening in a boutique lodge.
Day 8 — Gangtey Nature Trail & Retreat Time
The gentle Gangtey Nature Trail through pine forests, meadows and small villages. Solitary meditation time in the valley’s open silence. Optional traditional archery experience with local villagers.
Day 9 — Gangtey → Bumthang (via Trongsa)
One of Bhutan’s most spectacular drives, crossing the Pele La Pass. Stop at the strategic Trongsa Dzong, ancestral seat of the royal family. Continue to the spiritual heartland of Bumthang. Overnight in Bumthang.
Day 10 — Bumthang Sacred Sites
Jakar Dzong, Jambay Lhakhang (one of the 108 temples built by King Songtsen Gampo in 659 AD), Kurjey Lhakhang where Guru Rinpoche meditated, and the holy Membar Tsho — the Burning Lake. Time for personal reflection at the riverside.
Day 11 — Tang Kunzangdrak Retreat
Drive to the Tang valley and walk up to Kunzangdrak Goemba, a meditation retreat carved into the cliffs. Several quiet hours for guided or solitary meditation. Overnight in Bumthang.
Day 12 — Bumthang → Punakha
Long but scenic drive back westward, with stops at the Yotongla Pass and Chendebji Chorten. Evening rest in Punakha.
Day 13 — Punakha → Paro
Drive back to Paro through Thimphu. Free afternoon for the Centenary Farmers’ Market or a traditional medicine consultation. Overnight in Paro.
Day 14 — Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang) Pilgrimage Hike
The classic ascent to Taktsang — a measured climb to one of Bhutan’s most revered places of pilgrimage. Tea house break midway. Time inside the sanctuary for quiet reflection. Farewell dinner with Bhutanese cuisine.
Day 15 — Departure
Quiet morning in Paro, transfer to the airport, and a warm farewell from the Origovita team. Tashi Delek — until we meet again.
